Flippo, along with vocalist Kelly Delaveris, presents a special tribute to the music of Chick Corea, an American jazz and fusion pianist, keyboardist, and composer. As a member of Miles Davis‘s band in the late 1960s, he participated in the birth of the electric jazz fusion movement. Along with Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner, and Keith Jarrett, he has been described as one of the major jazz piano voices to emerge in the post-John Coltrane era.

After leading several popular ‘80s cult bands in and around his hometown of Lawrence, Kansas, Chuck Mead landed on Nashville’s Lower Broadway where he co-founded the famed ‘90s Alternative Country quintet BR549. The band’s seven albums, three Grammy nominations and the Country Music Association Award for Best Overseas Touring Act would build an indelible bridge between authentic American Roots music and millions of fans worldwide.

Eric Andersen first came to prominence as a performer in Greenwich Village in the early 1960s and immediately became part of the Village folk and songwriter scene along with Phil Ochs, Tom Paxton, Dave Van Ronk, and Bob Dylan, and was at the epicenter of the American Greenwich Village singer-songwriter explosion.  Besides his own classics, he’s co-written songs with Bob Weir of the Dead, Townes Van Zandt, Rick Danko, and Lou Reed.

Krate Digga, a professional DJ schooled in turntablism, will take you on a journey, through audio and visual, of the refugee experience. Understanding other’s perspective helps to broaden our own. In doing so, we become aware that when we look into the eyes of another human, we see ourselves. Humanness is oneness.

CRIS is an independent non-profit organization that serves the growing refugee and immigrant populations in Central Ohio. This benefit will raise money for their mentorship program that works with middle/high school-aged refugee students as they learn the English language, attend school, and learn to adjust to life in Central Ohio.

The stellar, all-star lineup features Eric Demmer (Gatemouth Brown) on sax and Mark’s former partner in crime, guitarist Paul Ramirez, who spent 6 years with the band from 2004 to 2010.  Along with Darrell Lacy on bass and Dante Ware on drums, together they form a powerhouse of musical interplay, staggering solos and beautiful harmonies. Mark plans to release his 7th album with the new lineup very soon..

We regret to announce that due to circumstances beyond our control, the Megan Palmer and Amy Speace show has been canceled. We apologize for any inconvenience, and full refunds will be issued. Hopefully, we will be able to re-schedule Megan and Amy sometime this summer.

Fortunately, Megan’s good friend and well known Columbus musician Jesse Henry will fill in for the show, starting at 9:30 pm. He will be accompanied by a number of special guests, so be sure to come out and enjoy the show! Because of the short notice, there will be no advance ticket sales, and there will be a cover charge of only $10 at the door.

Jesse Henry & Friends return to Natalie’s stage to fill in at the last minute for the canceled show with his friends Megan Palmer and Amy Speace. Jesse is a prolific songwriter and musician in multiple genres. A soulful singer, he earned a B.A. in jazz saxophone performance, writes instructional guitar books, and teaches guitar, piano, songwriting, and music theory. Jesse is also the Dean of the Rafiki Music School in Nairobi, and fronts the popular band the Spikedrivers, Strutterfly, and other projects. For this show at Natalie’s, he will be joined by a number of special guests. Tickets will be sold at the door for $10.

The talented Paisha Thomas returns to Natalie’s along with her band for another special evening of music. Paisha is a locally based entertainer who engages others through art mostly by her singing and songwriting. She creates music about love, politics, self-discovery, and the condition of the world.  Her first (eponymous) album was released last year, and she performs at a variety of local venues with her band and sometimes as a solo artist.
