The Gospel Soul Brunch Series continues with special guests The Mitchell Sisters. Hosted by Debra James Tucker on the first Sunday of each month as part of “Soul Sunday”, show time is 2:30 pm, and the Sunday Brunch menu is available from 11 am until 3 pm.
Praised for remarkable flexibility, strength and warmth of their combined voices, sisters Marquisa (Monique) and Qiana Mitchell are established as sought-after singers for live performances and session work in Columbus. Collectively, their unique style has been described as “Soul infused, Jazzy / Contemporary / Bluesy Classical Funk with a solid Gospel foundation.”
The Mitchell Sisters are natives of Gary, Indiana, and are the second and third eldest of eight siblings, who are musically gifted as well. Both sisters honed their skills by showcasing their talents since early childhood by way of church, school, community choirs, and most notably, their family’s singing group called, The Mitchell Sunbeams. Currently, The Mitchell Sisters are co-lead singers of the Columbus based R&B cover band MIMOSA.
The unique sound of vocalist Debra James Tucker is a product of extensive training in jazz, classical and gospel music. She is the writer/performer of the one woman show Survival of the Boulevard Singer—winner of an Ohio Arts Council Award for Individual Excellence, has been visiting instructor at Denison University in the history of African American Gospel Music, and an artist in residence with a number of youth arts organizations.
Soul Sunday at Natalie’s is held on the first Sunday of each month, and includes a delicious Brunch from 11 am until 3 pm, with the Derek DiCenzo Trio performing between 11 am and 1 pm. The Gospel Show Brunch show begins at 2:30, and presents the best national and regional Gospel Artists in concert. The evening show, hosted by Paisha Thomas, features a variety of Soul bands and artists starting at 8 pm. In addition to the regular menu, enjoy a “Soul Food” special created just for this series!
