This special edition of Songwriter Showcase at Natalie’s welcomes headliner Pierce Pettis, with featured act Elena Aiello.

Now in our fifth year, Songwriter Showcase presents the finest national and regional singer-songwriters. Our host, Eric Gnezda, is an award-winning songwriter and creator of the American Public Television series, Songs at the Center, which airs on more than 145 stations across America, and features many of the artists who appear on our stage. Due to the popularity of our Showcase, Natalie’s recommends purchasing tickets in advance to ensure table seating for the show.

This particular edition will depart from our usual “in-the-round” format, with Pierce headlining the show, following an opening set by Elena.

PIERCE PETTIS is one of this generation’s most masterful songwriters. His music is distinguished by his uncanny ability to capture universals in human experience by drawing on the humor and trials in daily life. Having performed in all 48 continental states as well as in Canada and Europe, Pierce has also appeared nine times on American Public Radio’s Mountain Stage, been featured on National Public Radio’s E-town, Morning Edition and World Cafe … appeared on VH-1, CBS News, and the Nashville Network. His songs have been recorded by Dar Williams, Garth Brooks, and Art Garfunkel.

After a lifetime of crafting finely wrought, heart-touching songs, Pierce feels that he’s finally found his comfort zone. “The biggest change,” he says of this point in his career, “has been getting over myself and realizing this is a job and a craft. And the purpose is not fame and fortune (whatever that is) but simply doing good work.”

ELENA AIELLO makes her national television debut this spring on Songs at the Center. Her love of music began at age nine, when she began playing classical piano. She fell in love with the guitar and songwriting in her mid 20s. Her original songs are characterized as Americana. In 2010 she and her sister, Andrea, formed the acoustic duo, Forcynthia, named after their mother. She creates stories and characters that contain solid truths about humanity.

Host ERIC GNEZDA performs regularly at Nashville’s famous venue for songwriters, The Bluebird Café, and was awarded the Ohioana Citation for Music Composition. Eric’s latest CD is Songs of Hope in a Changing World.
