Songwriter Showcase at Natalie’s presents Thor Platter, Rocco Siriano, and Craig Heath (filling in for Chris Milam, who had to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances)  in concert. Hosted by Eric Gnezda, this series, held the last Thursday of each month, features the finest regional and national singer-songwriters performing “in-the-round” in a wide range of styles, from Grammy and Kerrville winners, to the best up-and-coming songwriters.

Thor Platter, originally from Buffalo, NY, writes and performs music that Scene Magazine hails as “Americana roots rock and soulful good vibes.” Now based in Cleveland, Thor sports gentle, affecting vocals – which have earned him numerous comparisons to Willie Nelson – carried along freely by the accompaniment of rollicking banjo and harmonica. “The tradition and history of American music have influenced me my entire life; it encompasses many sounds and styles from many different eras,” he explains.

Rocco Siriano has been performing in Central Ohio for nearly forty years. Among other projects, he was co-founder and guitarist of the jazz group, Sweet Sixteen and is an occasional sideman for The Raineys. For several years, he has turned his attention to songwriting and vocals with a unique style and perspective. “My songs are stories, some fictitious, some personal life experience, to which others can relate. The music is an amalgamation of varying styles I’ve been exposed to my entire life.”

Host Eric Gnezda is also the creator of Songs at the Center, the Columbus-based series that is syndicated through American Public Television to more than 160 stations coast-to-coast. A regular performer at Nashville’s famous venue for songwriters, The Bluebird Café, Eric was awarded the Ohioana Citation for Music Composition in 2006. His latest CD is Songs of Hope in a Changing World.
