Natalie’s, in conjunction with Bus Stop Promotions, presents Jared Mahone, Joey Hebdo, Gretchen Pleuss, and Bella Burdella, four Ohio-native songwriters who will share the stage for a very special”Songwriters’ Circle” style show.

Jared Mahone has patiently turned hometown open mic night glory into a humble career as a nationally touring independent musician. His raw, acoustic story songs are inspired by Jared’s upbringing on 90’s soul, R&B, and Hip Hop combined with his passion for grinding out band music with real instruments and talented friends. Despite regional recognition as the 2013 Verizon Indie Icon, national recognition from his appearance as musical guest on Katie Couric’s ABC daytime talk show, or being named Best Male Artist in the 2014 International Acoustic Music Awards, Jared dismisses fame chasing. Instead, he favors a troubadour-style trudge across the country meeting new supporters one handshake at a time.

“Dynamic and melodic.  Passionate and unforgiving.  Hebdo, a descendent of middle eastern, Motown, Appalachian, and pop-rock influence, is always pushing and evolving.  Usually armed with an acoustic guitar and somewhat dreamlike lyricism that celebrate life’s struggles and colorful adventures, he projects his experiences through a unique voice all his own.  With numerous studio albums and countless music videos under the belt, he appears live and solo only to share his musical self with all in it’s most organic form.”

As with some of her proudly stated musical heroes, which include Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, Paul Simon, and Ani Difranco, Gretchen Pleuss keeps the music above the standard, three-chord, coffee-house troubadour sound with some cool chord progressions (a la Mitchell) and grooves. Pleuss also trusts her lilting melodies enough to use her quiet, emotive alto to sell her lyrics.” – Malcolm X Abram, The Akron Beacon Journal. To date, Pleuss has played at an array of venues throughout the United States, Canada, the UK, and Ireland and opened for prominent acts such as Lisa Loeb, Chely Wright, Damien Jurado, and Griffin House. Pleuss’ discography includes two E.P.’s and two full-length albums.

Bella Burdella (Haley Schaffer) uses her soulful, emotive voice to take the listener into her world, a world of triumph and defeat; of quiet prayer and boisterous proclamation. Her introspective, meditative style seamlessly combines elements of americana, jazz, indie rock, and pop into a flavorful stew only a true Midwesterner can concoct, spiced with honest and poignant lyrics and served by a unique, one-of- a-kind voice. A veteran of the stage, she has been stilling rooms and raising hairs since she was a child, honing her talents performing, writing, and touring packed rooms with the Womacks from 2009-2015 and performing solo in the years since. She is currently recording a record of her new material, due out in 2018.
