Bruno Mangueira (CANCELED)
With the Phil DeGreg Trio
- This event has passed.
Brazilian guitarist Bruno Mangueira and Cincinnati pianist Phil DeGreg have been collaborating musically for over 10 years, both in the U.S. and Brazil. For this special show at Natalie’s, Bruno will perform with the Phil DeGreg Trio, featuring Aaron Jacobs on bass and John Taylor on drums. Bruno is one of Sao Paulo’s finest and best-known samba/jazz musicians and composers who has performed and recorded with many of Brazil’s greatest musical artists, including Toninho Horta, Nailor Proveta and Léa Freire. He is virtuoso who plays bossa-nova and other Brazilian styles with an authenticity rarely heard in this country. He is also well-versed in the American jazz language and repertoire. His compositions are stunningly beautiful.
Phil is a mainstay of the Cincinnati jazz community who has 12 albums to his credit and has performed with scores of jazz luminaries, including Randy Brecker, Scott Hamilton, Slide Hampton and – recently at Natalie’s – Gene Bertoncini. This evening promises to be a beautiful cross-cultural musical exchange at a superbly artistic level.
