Gabrielle Solange is a singer, songwriter, producer, multi-media artist, and TEDx speaker. Her eclectic style is what she refers to as "genre-fluid," ranging from experimental pop to free-flowing jazz – drawing inspiration from her multicultural background and love for all music. Formerly signed to Sony Records in a popular top 200 Billboard charting band Fatty Koo, she emerged as a solo indie artist over a decade later with a truly authentic sound. Her at-times uncomfortably honest, yet refreshingly vulnerable story-telling has enabled her to connect with diverse audiences on controversial issues. She loves to have fun on stage with whimsical love songs and high energy hits but also sees entertainment as an opportunity to heal, educate, uplift, and empower. Recently, she was hand-selected by Kelly Clarkson as the winner of a Cover Nation contest for recreating a powerful version of Clarkson’s multi-lingual hit, “I Dare You,” reimagining the song’s meaning to protest police brutality. This year Gabrielle has made multiple appearances on FOX 28’s Good Day Columbus and was featured in The Columbus Dispatch’s Life and Arts section sharing her music and story.
When she’s not performing or creating, she teaches private vocal lessons and hosts creative workshops with youth for schools, organizations, and ministries. Growing up in the foster care system, Gabrielle found her sanctuary in Columbus’ inner-city youth arts programs and the arts became her lifeline. She is now determined to provide youth with the tools that helped her overcome many obstacles by teaching them to use music and various art forms to express emotions, process life’s trials, connect with others, mine for self-worth, and discover their purpose. She has continued hosting workshops and teaching lessons via Zoom during the pandemic and has been able to perform for Curbside Concerts. She’s incredibly excited to perform a set specially created for Natalie’s!
