Lil’ Red & The Rooster
With special guest the Columbus Combo
- This event has passed.
With bite, humor and contagious charm, 2019 International Blues Challenge finalists Lil’ Red & The Rooster swing, scratch and boogie some serious blues and high-energy r&b. Since 2010, Jennifer Milligan and Pascal Fouquet have been writing and touring together around the globe. Their travels have taken them to Europe, the U.K. and even as far as India. You can see them several times a year at Buddy Guy’s Legends, but they’re always happy to come back to Natalie’s!
Chicago Blues Hall of Fame inductee Dave Specter produced their album Soul Burnin’ and joined them at the prestigious 2018 BayCar Blues Festival in France. This year they won the Cincy Blues Challenge backed by the sweet and groovy Columbus Combo of Dwight Cartier on bass and The Governor on drums and percussion. They’ll all be heading to Memphis in January to compete at the 2020 International Blues Challenge.
The inspiration for their original songs comes from their love for the vintage blues, rhythm & blues and jazz of the 1920s – 1960s. Paying it forward, Lil’ Red writes poignant lyrics for contemporary ears and Pascal composes in homage to the legends of the past, bringing this rich and healing blues to a new generation of fans and those who, like them, can’t get enough of T-Bone Walker, Dinah Washington, Magic Sam, Muddy Waters, Clarence “Gatemouth” Brown, Earl Hooker, Little Willie John, Peggy Lee or Lil’ Green.
“Lil’ Red” has the talent to transport you to her world with an overflowing generosity.” Blues Magazine, BayCar Blues Festival 2018
“… more than brilliant guitar work by The Rooster a.k.a. Pascal Fouquet. Damn that man can play!” Marc Bouillon – Rootsville, HookRock Festival 2019
