- This event has passed.
Sean Carney’s BluesFray Tuesday series continues with “Blues Meets Girl & Mr. Downchild Meets Wallace Coleman”. This exciting evening of blues music will feature Blues Meets Girl, a collaboration of blues musician Mr. Downchild and singer-songwriter Kasimira Vogel, along with harmonica master Wallace Coleman. The sponsor for this new series is The Middlefield Banking Center, with Central Ohio locations in Dublin, Westerville, and Sunbury.
Mr. Downchild is a self taught harmonica player and slide guitarist who plays Delta/Chicago blues, and recorded and performed with the legendary Robert Jr Lockwood after moving to the U.S. from London in 1985. “Kassy” Kasimiri discovered Etta James, Big Mama Thornton and Koko Taylor at a young age and has been singing since she can remember.
Wallace Coleman first heard the blues as a youth in eastern Tennessee by listening to Nashville station WLAC, and discovered his greatest musical influences: Little Walter, Sonny Boy Williamson, Howlin’ Wolf, and Muddy Waters. Many years later, at age 51, he joined the Robert Jr. Lockwood Band in Cleveland. Wallace also formed his own band and recorded a number of highly acclaimed albums.
Sean Carney’s BluesFray Tuesday is held on the first Tuesday of each month, featuring Sean as host and performer, along with a variety of national and regional blues acts. An Internationally known blues guitarist/singer, Sean also founded Blues for a Cure, a foundation that raises money for cancer research, education and screening organizations across Ohio.
