Soul Derivative and Kristan Omor
Twofer Tuesday Series
- This event has passed.
Natalie’s presents “Twofer Tuesday”, featuring two dynamic acts, Soul Derivative, and Kristan Omor. Soul Derivative has been delivering energized renditions of soul, R&B and jazz covers to audiences since 2009. Their musical collective is comprised of four core members – Janeen Holmes (lead vocalist), Stephen Calloway (bass), Marc Brown (keyboard), and Thomas “TJ” Glover (drums). Take equal parts jazz, neo soul, and ’90s R&B, mix thoroughly, and you’ve got Kristan Omor, a sultry, raspy-voiced alto who sings straight from the heart. She will be accompanied by Chris Gatton on guitar, and Bradly Mellen on bass.
Janeen is the soulful front to Soul Derivative’s musical assemblage. Throughout the years, Janeen has had the incredible pleasure of opening for national recording artist Ledisi and supporting other national artists such as Josh Groban and Anthony Hamilton as a background vocalist. Locally, Janeen has performed at the Columbus Jazz and Ribs Fest, the Creekside Jazz and Blues Festival and the King Arts Complex’s Annual Heritage Festival (with Soul Derivative).
Having spent most of her life in the American South, Kristan Omor grew up immersed in the blues and jazz scenes of Memphis and New Orleans. After college, she relocated to Columbus, Ohio and performs with various R&B and jazz bands and doing corporate events around the United States. In November of 2017, Kristan released her debut EP, “From Then”, a compilation of songs about her first experiences with love and heartbreak. She is very excited to share her new original music with audiences around the country.
