Soul Sunday: Topher James and the Biscuit Brigade
- This event has passed.
Soul Sunday continues at Natalie’s with Topher James and Biscuit Brigade, a Columbus based band that features some of the best musicians around. Their second EP, “8-Bit Soul”, coincided with a locally made video game featuring the band. “I really enjoy the old gospel sound and want to pay homage to vintage soul but bring some new flavor to it”, James said, “This may mean a twist on lyrics, or modern production, and I want to pave my own path but bring about a feeling from the past,” said James.
Refusing to take the route of his peers Topher James shunned the corporate world after a pivotal moment with his boss and began a journey of music, for a living, as a way of life. Realizing a common denominator of all the music he loved was melody, strong emotional content, and soul, he began writing in this style and studying the greats.
The monthly Soul Sunday evening shows are coordinated and hosted by the talented Paisha Thomas. Paisha is a locally based entertainer who engages others through art with her singing and songwriting. She creates music about love, politics, self-discovery, and the condition of the world
Soul Sunday at Natalie’s is held on the first Sunday of each month, and includes a delicious Brunch from 11 am until 3 pm, with the Derek DiCenzo TRio performing between 11 am and 1 pm. The Gospel Soul Brunch show begins at 2:30, and presents the best national and regional Gospel Artists in concert, hosted and coordinated by Debra James Tucker. The evening concert features a variety of Soul bands and artists starting at 8 pm. In addition to the regular menu, enjoy a “Soul Food” special created just for this series!
