The Wonderfool with Special Guest Cous

a rare Standing Room Only show

  • This event has passed.

The Wonderfool—the recording project of singer/songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Matt Vinson—is a soundtrack for early mornings and late nights. Dreamt into existence by an Ohio native who’s spent the better part of a decade onstage, on the road, and in the recording studio, it’s indie-folk music to bookend your day.

Stuck indoors by the pandemic that had forced his other band—the chart-topping folk group CAAMP—to cancel their touring plans, Vinson found himself with ample time on his hands. He turned that isolation into an opportunity to create something new. Operating out of his home studio in Columbus, Vinson began piecing together The Wonderfool’s fourth release, Shiner, during a series of morning songwriting sessions and day-long studio shifts. “Shiner” was released on August, 11th 2021 via Gjenny Records.

Cous is the contrivance of Denver, CO based singer-songwriter Cassie Wilson. Finding roots in the Colorado Rocky Mountains, her Americana sound combines smooth acoustics with lyrical lessons of the past to make for a thoughtful yet easy listening experience.

We have Partnered with UPrep! Make a donation when you buy a ticket and receive a free Seventh Son Mister Owl beer as a thank you!

United Preparatory Academy (“UPrep”) is a high-performing public charter school serving 300 K-5th grade students in one of the most underresourced boroughs in Columbus, Ohio. UPrep students — 100% of whom are economically disadvantaged, 82% of whom identify as students of color, and 13% of whom have identified disabilities — often arrive behind grade level and without pre-reading skills like book handling or number recognition. Through a rigorous curriculum paired with joyful culture, UPrep grow an average of 1.5-2 years within each academic year, and annually outscore their local, district, and even state peers across standardized assessments.  In order to meet the school’s ambitious mission of transforming lives and our communities through the power of education, we provide resources that wrap our arms around students, like the Family Resource Center, which offers washers and dryers, internet and printer access, winter clothing, uniform items, hygiene supplies, and nonperishable food items. A gift to the Family Resource Center ensures that UPrep students and families and get what they need, when they need it, and can get back to the important work of learning.
