Trad Nua Celtic Series: Andrew Finn Magill and Mick Broderick
Next in the exciting new Trad Nua Celtic Series, Natalie’s and Zaftig Brewery present acclaimed fiddler Andrew Finn Magill and Dublin-to-Dublin’s very own Mick Broderick on the Irish bouzouki. This series is hosted and coordinated by the talented Celtic musician Randy Clepper.
For 20 years violinist, fiddler and composer Andrew Finn Magill has been pursuing parallel careers in traditional Irish music, Brazilian choro, jazz and American fiddle and he has performed with everyone from Grammy-nominees John Doyle to Rising Appalachia. He is a Fulbright Fellow, award-winning composer and Ropeadope recording artist. This performance will feature traditional Irish music from Magill’s 2016 release Roots and he will be accompanied by Mick Broderick, bouzouki-player of the renown Irish supergroup Slide, The Noble Call and Dave Curley & Mick Broderick.
“Andrew Finn Magill is a leading fiddler in a new generation of musicians.” – Martin Hayes
“Serene and incredibly soulful, North Carolina fiddler Andrew Finn Magill encounters the tradition in a manner reminiscent of Keith Jarrett on The Melody at Night With You.” – The Irish Times.
Trad Nua is a new Celtic series at Natalie’s sponsored by Zaftig Brewing Company, Worthington’s only craft brewery. Rooted in the rich tradition of Irish and Celtic music but also with new influences, the series presents a variety of traditional acts often juxtaposing old styles with new influences, local and international artists and featuring traditional instruments. Brewing has a rich tradition too while new ideas and influences allow for experimentation and the creation of some really amazing beer. Zaftig will be using those elements to create unique brews just for this music series!
